COVID-19 TESTING
There are two main publicly-funded tests available in Ontario to those who are eligible: rapid antigen tests and molecular tests, which includes both polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and rapid point-of-care (POC) testing.
You are eligible for PCR testing if you have COVID symptoms AND are a patient facing health care worker, work in high-risk setting, live in a congregate setting, are being considered for treatment or are an outpatient requiring a test for clinical management. Rapid Antigen tests are available for free from some pharmacies, schools, clinics and participating grocery stores. See the updated guidelines and details here.
If you develop new or worsening symptoms that concern you, you can contact your clinic or emergency room as appropriate.
If you have general questions about COVID, self-isolation guidelines or other issues, you can contact your local Northwestern Health Unit or call the NWHU COVID hotline at 866-468-2240
