Red Lake is a remote town of ~4000 at the end of the highway in NW Ontario, famous primarily for gold and fishing. The scenery is beautiful and the commute is just right. The position would be a mix of clinic, ER, and in-patient responsibilities, with flexible dates and scheduling. Our hospital is smallish with only 18 beds, but we have lab, x-ray/ultrasound, physio, chemotherapy and endoscopy (2 days/mo) services, as well as OTN. The clinic is located right next door and we have access to Meditech and PACS to view x-rays etc. Our EMR is PS Suite.
Average daily ED visits vary between 15-25. Access to virtual back-up, as well as an ED peer-to-peer program for support.
Red Lake is located in the Northwest region and has a short connecting flight from either Winnipeg or Thunder Bay. If touring the beautiful region by car, Red Lake is about a 6 hour drive east of Winnipeg or 7 hour drive west of Thunder Bay. We have several accommodation options with all the amenities, including a lovely house on the lake.
